    The Vincents - Peninsula Rock

Newsflash - the Mornington Peninsula rocks! That's right, the Peninsula Rock & Roll club holds a monthly rock & roll dance at the Italian Club in Rosebud. Last night's offering was a fantastic evening of rock & roll dancing with live music from one of Melbourne's long standing 1950's style rock & roll bands, the Vincents.

It was my first visit to the Peninsula Rock's dance, and I must say I came away feeling very impressed. The Italian Club in Rosebud is an easy drive up the Mornington Peninsula Freeway or for those coming from other parts of Melbourne, the trip is also made easily accessible by using Eastlink. Greeted by several impressive looking Kustoms parked at its entrance, the club has a large car park plus lots of parking in the surrounding streets. The bar was operating on the night but also offered dancers free large bottle of chilled water. Dance clothing, shoes & accessories were on display and for sale. The dance floor is of a reasonable, good size and the whole place just feels right for a good rockin' night.

A large contingent of rockers turned up to dance the night away, and it was pleasing to see many of these dancers were not the ones who usually dance at Lt Maria's, for example. Many are local rockers from the Bayside & the Mornington Peninsula plus dancers from the Ministry of Swing dance school. Therefore it wasn't a surprise to see different dance styles including swing, exhibited on the dance floor.

I don't get to see the Vincents play as often nowadays but as usual, I enjoyed the band's rendition of 1950's and 60's hits. The Vincents play the type of rock & roll music that gets you off your chair so you could dance all night long. And that makes it very satisfying and a top night out for me. I 'll be back at the Italian Club for the next Peninsula Rock's dance. Top marks to Terry & his crew at Peninsula Rock for a wonderful night of rock & roll music and dancing.

And thank you Jill and all the other folk who make these dances possible.
