A Band Called Twang or popularly known as Twang from Queensland toured Melbourne last weekend playing to full house dance gigs for Jon & Zoe's Alleycatz at the Hungarian Club in Wantirna South as well as at the Polish Club in Sunshine. The last time the band came to Melbourne was 7 or 8 years ago so it was a very welcome gig, and many rock n roller dancers were particularly looking forward to it. The gigs were supported by another popular Melbourne rockabilly band, the Atomic Hi Tones.

Twang has acquired a huge following playing in various music festivals over the years including Cooly Rocks On. Their music is a unique blend of rock n roll, rockabilly and blues but very danceable tunes. The band recently also performs as the Palomino III playing their special brand of Americana rock blues with a Southern Twang.

Being winter in Melbourne, it was a cold wintry night at both venues - the Hungarian and Polish Clubs. But the patrons warned up very quickly hitting the dance floor immediately with the Atomic Hi Tones opening the show with their brand of high octane rockabilly tunes. Twang was next on stage playing many of self-penned tunes which delighted the rockers even though there were some technical issues with the sound system at the Hungarian Club. The bands followed up their performance with another great show at the Polish Club located in the Western suburb of Sunshine.

Thank you to Jon & Zoe's Alleycatz in bringing Twang over to Melbourne for an extravaganza weekend of rockin' music and dancing. The next big gig is coming up in October when Alleycatz hosts the Lucky Seven from Adelaide. The band will perform a tribute set to Bill Haley & the Comets. Book your tickets early before it runs out........
