Male Dance Partner Wanted (Lilydale Area)

Hi, after many years of different dancing styles I had a break and some children. Now ready to do something fun for me again and would love to dance a bit again. My husband does not enjoy dancing very much so I would like to find someone I can dance with on occasions. He is okay with that too! I started out as a teenager doing rock n roll in Germany, later I tried some Lindy Hop, done Street Latin dancing with south american friends and had a course of brasilian style dances as well. General ballroom is nice too, would like to learn more there as well but my main passion from way back is rock n roll, jive, and some more lindy hop. I am a fresh 40 year old with a love of dance. I live near Monbulk and would prefer it if I don't have to travel too far to do some dancing. Hope to hear from someone soon.

Hi Brumbygirl - welcome to VicRock.

Whilst waiting to meet up a regular dance partner, you may like to know that there are lots of gigs fairly close to where you live. You can see details of all the live music performances & dance gigs here on VicRock's front page announcements as well as in the gigs guide.

For example, on Wed night, there is dancing at the Sandown Hotel and on Friday nights at the Dandenong Workers Club and at Lt Maria's (fortnightly). On a Saturday night, you may wish to go to the Monash hotel and on a Sunday arvo at the Ferntree Gully Hotel, Micawber Tavern, Mitcham RSL or again at the Dandy Workers Club and the Dandy RSL etc. Lots of choices for you.

There will always be guys avaiiable to dance Rock & Roll with you if you ask them. It's quite OK to ask guys to dance. I think there are not too many Rock & Rollers who also dance Lindy Hop although some do incorporate some swing steps such as "partner charleston" as part of their dance moves. But Swing Patrol regularly organises social Lindy Hop dancing so have a look at their website for more details.

Enjoy your dancing and good luck!

There's a multitude of great dance veues across Melbourne & a GOOD dance is worth the time it takes to get there...
Alse there's a great dance class with social dancing afterwards at The Whitehorse Club on Burwood Highway in Burwood....otherwise known as 'Lil Marias' every other Friday night. if you can...get a copy of 'Rock N Roll News' (sold at most venues) for a more complete listing of all the great dances around Melbourne & Vctoria.
A Good Dance is worth the time it takes to get there.
"Life may not be the party we hoped for... but while we are here we might as well dance!"
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
