Lots of live outdoor music & dancing available in January. You can choose between Rock & Roll, Country & Country Rock or Jazz & Blues. So bring along a picnic basket and your dancing shoes. Detailed below are some of my past favourites but I am sure there will be others around too.

3rd January (Sunday) - Red Hill Country Music Festival. More than just country & country rock music, this year it has Ezra Lee, Doug Bruce & the Tailgaters along with Prairie Oysters, Rene Diaz, Phoenix etc. Held at the Red Hill Showgrounds Reserve - Arthurs Seat Rd, Red Hill. Music from 9am to 6pm and $25 entry. Also hotrods display, merchandise, food stalls etc. Whilst you are at it, why not go pick your fresh cherries, strawberries etc at the farms nearby?

9th & 10th January (Sat and Sunday) - Coolart Jazz and Blues Music Festival at Lord Somers Rd, Somers. Melway Ref 193 H9. Weekend package available plus entry fee $35 on Sunday only. Saturday festures more tradtional Jazz music but it's the Sunday's program I like. Dirty Boogie Band & Bobby Ballinger Swinging Safari Band plus Swing Patrol dance demonstrations. Sunday music starts around 1pm.

8th, 9th and 10th January (Fri, Sat & Sunday) - Geelong Jukebox Rockers' 2010 Summer Rock Festival at White Eagle House, Fellmongers Rd Geelong. Long standing & very popular Rock & Roll Music Festival. Friday & Sat nites with the Rockin' Daddys & Hip Cats are ticketed events only. But Sunday is only $10 and you get to dance to Jump & Jive, Atomic Hi Tones and Fender Benders. I believe dance competition on Sunday as well. Not to be missed!
