Pat Capocci and Ezra Lee
I looked back to a post I put up after my first visit to Wintersun back in 2004 to find a comment I remembered making about Pat Capocci. I said back then that one of the highlights of Wintersun had been:
'The dirty rockabilly sounds of three young guys out of Maitland called the Pat Capocci Combo (suited my style of dance to a tee and we danced non-stop for an hour...)'
I have caught up with Pat Capocci a few times since, most recently at Groovers Lounge in Frankston about a month ago and at Suzy's dance in Narre Warren last Saturday night. He was performing with Ezra Lee and two other musicians at both venues.
It has been a treat to get to see these two young guys and their support band here in Melbourne this year. Their sound is vibrant and fresh. Ezra Lee knows how to get that Jerry Lee Lewis sound out of a piano, and Pat Capocci sings and plays guitar with individual style and youthfull enthusiasm. They play some songs I have not heard before (including some of their originals), which adds to the fun of finding a way to fit the dance to the music.
I see Pat and Ezra are on the bill for this year's Wintersun, which I expect will be my next opportunity to catch them in performance. I look forward to it.
