Thumbs Up - Yarraville Club Thursday Nights

Went to the Yarraville Club for the first time and really enjoyed it.

Even though the other side of the river there is a foreign country for me it was not too hard to get there from the Eastern suburbs.

The Club seems to be a pokie-ised RSL. While there was a buzz of people the place still retains a degree of quiet class. The food was great!! There was a choice of mains for $12.50, with a glass of wine thrown in. The Tandoori style chops were delicious and I exercised an astounding level of will power and did not sample the alliterative Tim Tam Tart.

The dancing is in a separate room. This has a reasonably sized floor and an attractive atmosphere. The bands must appreciate the well set-up stage.

So after travelling to the exotic west what do we encounter but DJ Antony and Crash & the Fenderbenders, along with plenty of familiar faces on the dance floor. Now I am one C&tFÂ’s greatest fan but I was expecting to listen to a local combo. I think they might be stalking me.

So it was a great way to spend a Thursday night, one of MelbourneÂ’s premier bands, an experienced DJ, excellent music in an attractive and friendly venue. A happy crowd on a busy but not too crowded floor.

Would I go there again – definitely!!

I agree totally with you RobE I was fortunate enough to visit the Yarraville Club for the second time last Thursday and see the fabulous Speedsters live in action and the professional entertaining Mr DJ Flash himself - the distance for me also is quite a trek and it takes me 45 minutes just to get there, but its been worth the effort both times to meet some new people and suprisingly see many recognisable faces from other venues.
I happened to notice when the dance floor does get full their is plenty of \"carpet\" space also to strutt your stuff - nothing will stop us Rockers we will dance anywhere if there is some good boppin music !!!
I have not been fortunate enough to try the Tim Tam Tart but with a name like that no doubt an extra few brackets of dancing would be required after devouring it !! :unsure:

Thanks A&A for the complements. It is always good fun working at the Yarravill Club Roz & Antony run the dances there, and they do a fantastic job. Good venue and the staff are friendly as well. Have made a lot of good Friends at the Yarraville club. I will be back there on the 17 March with The Speedsters.
