What a fantastic night of music and dancing with Si Cranstoun in concert at the St Sava Church Hall in Greensborough. Last night was the last leg of his 2017 Australian tour having performed at various concerts in NSW and Queensland. It was a packed hall with close to 500 dancers and patrons attending his concert. I last saw Si Cranstoun when he came to Melbourne for the first time about 4 years... [Read More]

What a fantastic weekend of glorious sunshine, and even hotter bands, music, dancing, hot rods and Pin ups. All that and more at Greazefest which was staged in Brisbane for the 18th year running. I think, and many would agree with me, that this year's event was probably the best and biggest by far. With overseas acts supported by some of Australia's favourite rockabilly, blues and 1950's style... [Read More]

I have found it a great delight visiting smaller towns and cities and attending their dance festivals over the last few years. Last weekend, it was Townsville's turn to host their third rock 'n roll and swing dance festival incorporating dance demos and classes led by the Sydney Swing Katz team. As many of you would know, dancers from Sydney Swing Katz have just about won all the major dance... [Read More]
Well, that was another edition of Cooly Rocks On just finished today in Coolangatta. Unfortunate that rain came and interrupted a number of outdoor events today and the usually very popular Sunday markets. But up until Sunday, it was glorious sunshine commencing on Wednesday when Cooly Rocks On program officially started. Yes, there were patches of drizzle on Saturday but all programs and outdoor... What a great night of rock & roll music and dancing last night at the Hungarian Community Club in Wantirna when Flipside hosted Adelaide's "Teddy Boy" R&R band, the Lincolns. It was a full house with the gig booked out a fortnight ago. There were quite a few disappointed fans who missed out on a ticket to attend the dance.
The Lincolns are no strangers to Melbourne's live... [Read More]

There are many things one can feel proud as a rock & roller in Melbourne, and the charity dance held on Good Friday every year is certainly one of those proud moments. The charity dance is a small but nonetheless a very practical avenue for rockers to show their financial & moral support for those in need and who are in less fortunate circumstances. This year there are at least a couple... [Read More]

Charles Edward Anderson Berry or going by his stage name, Chuck Berry, died yesterday at the age of 90. Born in St Louis, Missouri, he was one of the founding legends of 1950's Rock n Roll with hits like Maybellene, Roll Over Beethoven and Johnny B Good. More hits followed in the 1960's with Nadine and You Never Can Tell etc and he was a major influence on the British Invasion bands like the... [Read More]

What a great event, and a huge crowd not just rockers turning out in force but also receiving big support from the general public. I estimated there were several thousands patrons on the day including many families having a great time last Sunday in Brisbane. After all, it was promoted as a family-friendly event.
Redlands Rockabilly Revival was held in the Cleveland Showgrounds... [Read More]
