Received this from Barb of Geelong Jukebox Rockers this afternoon.
"Sadly Roy passed away on 19 August 2010 we will all miss him and hope that we all can enjoy our lives as much as he did his.
Roy joined our club in the January 2000 at the ripe old age of 85. In that time he was involved in every aspect of our club. He approached everything with enthusiasm and vigour and was always willing to lend a hand. His passion for having a go at anything and in particular dancing with the ladies was an inspiration to watch. He loved spinning the ladies around and around, often he would hold up his fingers showing three which meant that you were in for three spins, so you just held your breath and around you went. He particularly loved a chat and he loved having tea at White Eagle every Monday night.
Roy would never knock back an invitation and travelled up to Wintersun sharing accommodation with some very nice ladies. He also travelled to Wagga Wagga to be presented with some gorgeous Rock and Roll Debutantes. Roy was the life of the party on one of the earlier Rock and Roll Cruisers and outlasted the others who were a third his age.
Roy had friends far and wide in the Rock and Roll scene but he had two very special people in his lives who were Dennis and Lina. They picked him up each Monday night, dance nights, Barham, picnics and bbq’s and we know they will miss him very dearly.
Rest in Peace"
The funeral is to be held at Tobin Brothers Barkly St. Sunbury on Wednesday August 25 at 10am
I first met Roy many years ago at Petronies' in Keysborough where he was a regular every Wednesday night and bumped into him often at dances in Melbourne and country Victoria at different times. He will be sorely missed..

Mel
will be sadley missed by kelvin & carmel yarrawonga vic
That is some sad news about Roy.
I hope I am as active and involved as he was if I make it to his age. A fine example to all in how to live life to the fullest if ever there was one.
Our sympathy to Roy's friends, loved ones and the Geelong Jukebox Rockers.
I am sure he will be greatly missed around White Eagle House.
Being one of Roy's ladies at Petronies many years ago was fun.
His granddaughter used to bring him and sat with us on our table and i must say that he wore you out dancing.
Whenever James played down at Geelong for Barb i looked for Roy and caught up with him.
We will miss his smiley face.
RIP Roy.

Roy I'll never forget the Friday night when you had a Heart turn whist dancing with Dawn, the ambo's came and took you away to hospital we were all sad and thought it was the end, but no, Saturday night you were back, full of steam ready for another night of Rock & Roll what a stayer, We sat with you on Sunday devoured a meal together and made light conversation, you said the hospital was boring and the dance was more important, and that it would be better to die on the dance floor. You were an inspiration, to everybody you came in contact with.I only hope the Rock& Roll is great where you are now
We'll never forget.
Keep on dancing Roy.
Roy was such an inspiration to all Rockers. He could outlast any on the dance floor. He never missed a dance at The Longyard Dance Studio; he'd climb "those stairs" and still dance on all night.
We'll miss him terribly but he will always be remembered with much fondness.
"Keep On Rockin Roy"

I always had a dance or two with Roy, I would spot him and go over to say hello and he would grab my hand and say I was next for a fast one. When a fast song came on he would look over at my table and wave, he liked the fast ones, same as me.
He was a lovely old dear and would comment that he would keep dancing until he stopped. I can even recall him telling me one time at a dance that he had been in hospital a day beforehand with I think it was heart troubles, now that's dedication!
Rest in Peace Roy, keep on Rockin in the next life x
While touring Tasmania in The Slappin Daddies, I had the pleasure of meeting’ partying and laughing with Roy back in 2001 when two bus loads of rockers also travelled on the ferry over to Tassie.
Hats off to a gentleman who lived life to the fullest.
Rest in peace
