In an awkward mishmash of both etymology and entomology I must confess that I am drawn to Honey B like a moth to a flame.
Who else has the stature and the looks of a goddess? Who sings like an angel? Who has a twinkle in her eye and a clever turn of phrase with just the possibility of naughtiness?
The Stingers are a tight “show band” style combo with keyboards and sax augmenting the guitar and drums core.
I have not enjoyed a Shadows' instrumental so much since Shadoogie left town. All the Stingers needed to completely conjure of the spirit of Hank B was the guitar line-up all doing a box step.
Hey - Hank B / Honey B. I wonder if they are related?
And I love the way the Stingers play the Thunderbirds Wild Weekend.
I totally enjoyed the show at Dandy Workers and loved the way Honey B and the band worked the audience.
What a hoot! The band was not ready to play La Bamba so they did Twist and Shout with a few Speedy Gonzales cartoon “mexicanisms” thrown in. And it worked. Try running the two songs side by side and see.
Honey B and the Stingers; another blessing for dancers in the Melbourne Rock’n’Roll scene.
And here I was thinking you'd forgotten all about me. To read your post warms the cockles of my heart (exactly what are cockles anyway?).
Speaking of "a clever turn of phrase", I am but a novice in comparison to your quick-witted, poetic and masterful usage of the written word. I think Mel should start up a “Dear Rob” column on VicRock …. I know you’d be terrific dispensing pearls of wisdom to the lonely, confused and lovelorn.
Thank you for your kind words of praise .... the guys and I truly appreciate it. We’ve all taken a bit of an emotional beating during the past couple of months but it’s now onward and upward; just like Ivan would have wanted.
Until our worlds collide once more on the dance floor “Dear Rob”, I wish you adieu and much love.
Well Said Rob, We Luuuuv This Band At The Yarraville Club! They're Always A Lot Of Fun, Give Any Place A Great Atmosphere, And Lyndall Is Just The Best!!!
