Wow what a weekend, we cruised out of NSW it was hot 42deg very dusty couldn't see more than a couple of km all fire services where on high alert.
As we travelled through Albury it started to rain we were still hot, our enthusiasm wasn't to be dampened, a weekend of dancing was on the agenda, first stop Frid nite Yarraville Club and "Rockin' Atomic Daddies", then a nice scenic drive in the rain Sat evening out to Wandin Nth to find Frank, Wayne, Dave (alias Bill) & Joe, quietly putting a few wires together & organising a few instruments etc, punters started to arrive just before 8.
"Who was that Cat" opened up about 10 past the hour, and wow what a blast, the little Wandin hall came alive with dancing rockers, I think the fire trucks in the shed next door were shaking to the beat, It was HOT, Temperature wise, Music wise & Dancing wise, What a fantastic dance hall beautiful sprung floor, great acoustics and that lovely 40s style rounded roof & walls.
The night was young and the rain pelted down nothing cooled the music was hot and so were the dancers, the breaks where welcome relief for a quiet walk in the cool rain.
Dave alias Bill Haley & his band gave us a treat, if you closed your eyes and listened, Bill was in the room, We rocked the hall rocked the Fire stn rocked It was a rockin' good time,
Thanks Jackie we had a great time,Special thanks to Frank, Wayne, Dave, Joe & of course the one and only "Bill"
I hope Jackie makes headway with the local council it would be a shame if this venue was to close too.
Thankyou for the great rap.
