Just found this site and wondered if anyone has any old Pics of Blackspur Ramblers I was the bass player during the 80's with Dan and Amber and young Jason. Those who rember following us around will remember me Colin.....I am still at it would love to find some other musicians down my way Frankston
Hi Colin, I certinaly remember the band, and I wondered if the current blackhill ramblers were in any way related to the blackspur! Not sure if I have pics, but I do have a lot of band pics from the 80's that r not named. Can u tell me something about the band that would help me reconise in a pic? I have pics from many venues & dances, did u play Country Rockers, South eastern rock roll, Early rock roll, r&r appreciation, Springy pub, springy rock, Albion Charles, royal Darby, Bell st rock, terminus, Bunnys, I can't remember any others at the moment. Hope I can help!!
Gday Roulette..No we aint related, but l did know Danny years ago,When he had a 53 Chev Coupe l think it was 53 not sure.I did like the name Blackspur Ramblers and the Blackhill Ramblers were called Coolchange for years, but 3 or 4 other bands popped up with that same name.So l changed it to The Blackhill Ramblers...Thanks cya Shane
We played just about all the places R. Darby, Espy, venues all over northen subs,Springvale, plus town hall with straight 8's and Vincents all the country festivals,Blackhill Ramblers I havnt met so I believe no connection,we also did a lot of hotrod and bike gigs but cant remember all the venues but do rember a lot of the hotrod guys followed us around.Dan would play a slide lap guitar Amber played rythm Jason played lead guitar and electric fiddle can't rember drummers name but he was a young talented guy also and of course I played bass..I hope someone may remember more than me Ha Ha Colin..
Hi Colin
i might have some pictures from when you played at my wedding, give me some time and i'll look for them for you, aint you lucky i didn't burn them... ha.
We use to go see you guys every Thursday or Friday at, i think it was the Old Dandy Inn, wow they were the days...
I've seen Roger a few times at the Gully but not for a while.
What a talented family they were, i remember young Sean at about 10 he was learning the saxaphone, and had plans joining the band. It would be a treat if they were to make a comeback..
Hey Hotty I am still trying to get to grips with computer and all that stuff so be patient, have just found out how to put pic on my profile so maybe that will jog your memory that pic was taken somewhere in Gippsland or maybe Panton Hill age wrecks the memory.. The Dandy pub is a bank now I believe Colin
There you go Colin. Danny Wallace on keyboards, his wife Amber on Guitar and son Jason (16) on fiddle. Is that you on the bass? What an entertaining family country-rock band the Blackspur Ramblers were.
I used to catch you guys at a rock dance run by John and Carol? At the Doveton high school hall. One of the schools that did not survive the Jeff Kennett education slashes. The scanned photos are from HotRodGirl’s wedding. Circa 1987.
Live & let Live, Love & let Love, Rock & let Roll, plus related clichés.
