4-Band Extravaganza at the Monash Hotel

The 2012 “rockabilly” season at the Monash hotel kicked off in a blast with a 4-band extravaganza comprising the ever explosive Detonators, the increasingly popular Hank’s Jalopy Demons, the Atomic Hi Tones with a new lead guitar & double bass line-up and the evergreen swing blues hipster, Benny & the Flyby Niters.

Such a great line up for money well spent on the $15 cover charge, and what a fantastic night for all the punters! It was non-stop action all night with a good crowd in attendance too. Needless to say, the dance floor was jam packed and apart for the occasional bumps and stepping on toes there was hardly a strayed elbow in sight. Rock & roll dancers simply just want to dance and have fun and dare I say, such good ambassadors for good will in sharing limited dance space.

Yes - there had been a few occasional “wild” rumours in the last year about the impending demise of live music at the Monash hotel. After the gig last weekend, I would certainly hope those rumours are now well and truly put to rest. The “Nash” has been rockin’ for a few years now, and many rockers call it “home” and a terrific place for live music, a drink or two, few dances and friendly chats and catch up with friends. So let’s keep the Nash rockin’ for a few more years to come.

Was there much room to have a dance?
