    C.R.A.F.T Yarraville Friday 20th

CRAFT Yarraville Friday 20th saw a unusually small crowd turn up to the old line up of the “Fender Benders”. This story begins earlier this year on a rainy night at Mitcham RSL of course James Terry & Fred were fronting a good crowd of keen dancers. During the night James informed me that Fred was leaving the band after 7 years and a new drummer had been engaged that would fill the void. We felt sad for James and Fred and it seemed to us that this was the last night we would see this band that we loved so much, together. The four hour drive home began with long periods of silence, we were both stunned and in all seriousness wondering how this new drummer? Would perform.

Due to a self inflicted injury to my right hand, not long after this fateful night, I have been out of the dance scene for quite awhile so our first real test of the buggered hand was at Clive’s Northside on the 13th of course the new line up of “Fender benders” was giving Northside some smooth sounds of that genuine Rock & Roll; we had danced off and on for most of the night, I couldn’t put my finger on why the lack of enthusiasm I had to put into our dance, James must have noticed also he came to us ½ way through the night “What’s going on you guys” I put it down to my stiff and still rather sore hand.

The next real test of the hand was the next night Sat 14th at Bendigo Jailhouse rockers mid winter dance,"The Rousers" things went off well, it poured with rain most of the night this helped to ruin the dance floor as people carried dirt & moisture in from outside the venue. My hand was standing up well although a little sore and the difficult floor condition was testing.

We finally arrived home after a mediocre dance experience weekend, late on Sunday evening; on checking my email there was a short note from James ,” my new drummer has left us”. My initial thought oh S**t now what, the whole Band thing is now stuffed. Later that night another short email, Fred is coming back, “woopie” what an excitement.

So It was decided there and then we make a cheese cake and take it to Yarraville on the 20th (James is into a very special type of Cheesecake).

OK ALL YOU ROCKERS,SO WHERE WAS EVERYBODY on the 20th”? Fender benders” are back and playing like they always did, we had a full on R & R dance all night till stumps, the floor was extraordinarily fantastic for Yarraville; I just love a fast floor. My hand shaped up to the test.

Sara is a perfect host and to her credit & wisdom the Zumba lesson half way through the night was an eye opener to say the least. It was a great night & the excitement on James face at the end of the night when we produced the Mulberry cheesecake really topped of the night, the comment was “Thank you! & Thanks for coming down, I was thinking of eating something sweet but I know there is nothing at home, this cake will fix this problem”.

Thanks Sara, The Fab Fenders was a good choice. Ha Ha

Now I have just one question unrelated to dancing did somebody out there accidentally put the wrong number in one of the little boxes on the green piece of paper on Saturday. What a balls up was this election.
    ZUMBA to everyone!

I don't get it, I just don't get it... Sad,Happy, cheese cake, or was this the crowds fault? Sorry to see Fred go, a good bloke and drummer, I'm sure we'll see him somewhere soon...

Thanks for your message about Yarraville, me, and of course "zumba". I try very hard to give my people a great night, introduce new things and just make it fun for everyone. And yes, more support would be appreciated! I too had a fantastic night as I luuuuv Fenderbenders - great band, great guys! Do me favour though, next time you come to Yarraville, please introduce yourself - I'd love to know who you are as I often see your messages on the website and love reading them! Be good, keep rockin' and look forward to meeting you x
