"Flash Mob" Dancing in Melbourne - Sunday, 21st March
Would you like to be part of our spontaneous “flash mob” rock & roll dance in the city on Sunday 21st March for a bit of fun and also to promote rock & roll dancing?
A “flash mob” dance occurs in public places when one person starts to dance and people who seem to be passing by randomly join in until there is a huge mob of people dancing. When the music stops they all walk off and continue on their way, so to the spectators it looks like a completely spontaneous public dance. Our plan is to dance to 1 or 2 songs at the following places and times:
1.45pm – Meet at “Southern Cross” Train station (Corner of Spencer & Collins Streets)
2 pm – First “Flash” dance at “Southern Cross” train station
2.15pm – Second “Flash” dance at “Southern Cross” train station at the bottom of the steps on Spencer Street opposite Bourke Street
2.45pm - Bourke Street mall on the corner of Elizabeth and Bourke Streets and outside the GPO. If it’s raining, we’ll give this one a miss and go to Flinders Street train station.
3pm - Federation Square corner (opposite St Paul’s Cathedral). If it’s raining we’ll also give this one a miss.
3.10pm - Flinders Street train station under the clocks for our final mob dance
Finish up with a drink at “Young & Jackson” across the road to celebrate our flash mob dancing. Straight 8’s are playing at the pub from 3-6 pm.
You & your dance partner should arrive at the Southern Cross train station by 1.45 pm, at the latest. For those without a dance partner, you may find another person to dance with on the day but no promises. Even if you are not dancing, you can always be a part of the cheering squad!

Re: "Flash Mob" Dancing in Melbourne - Sunday, 21st March
Should be a fun day with lots of rock n rollers coming along to join in the fun and "mob" the city with dancing. I'll try to get some media coverage on the day. If you want to join in please let Paul or me know you're planning to come so we have some idea of numbers. I have a volunteer to video it, anyone want to volunteer to take photos of the event?
