The Prairie Oysters played their first gig in May 2006 and soon gained a reputation as one of Victoria’s more popular country music acts. This four-piece band is made up of four talented and experienced muso's who have been "playing the traps" for over 30 years. They are renowned for their showmanship, competent musicianship and their sense of fun playing a mix of Country, Southern Rock and Rockabilly. They have achieved a lot in the short time they have been together and have made many friends all the way from Tasmania and Alice Springs to Texas and Denmark. The band’s popularity was acknowledged in 2007 being voted Most Popular Band at the Country Music Guild of Australiasia Awards and becoming top ten finalists for the National Country Music Awards Hawking Brothers Best New Talent in 2008.
