The city should be full of people on Sunday 21st with the food and wine festival on so come on all you VICROCKERS, lets give the people of Melbourne (and the tourists) something fun to watch and talk about. This mob dance should be a real blast!!!!.
Imagine the stunned looks on the faces of the passers-by when a heap of people start to spontaneously dance in these public places. They will be surprised, and then hopefully entertained by our dancing and maybe even join in. Imagine being part of a huge mob, rock n rolling in the city! We might even get our mugs in the paper or on the news!!

Lets see this post filled up with replies from all you mob dancers out there. You asked for a mob dance to be organised, we've done all the work, so now's your chance to have a go. So far Paul and I know of about 40 who are turning up but we'd love to have lots more. Let us know if you're planning to join in.
So get yourselves into Southern Cross Station, bottom level on corner of Spencer and Collins St (a huge area with smooth tiles to dance on) around 1.45 and join in when the music starts at 2pm! A zone 1 sunday saver ticket is only $3.10, and with Straight 8's playing for free at Young and Jacksons it will be a cheap afternoon out in the city.
Kris and I will be there and will be trying to drag along anyone we come across.Should be a great afternoon.Good onya both for puttin' this together.

So where are all the rest of you who thought the mob dance was a good idea???? So far we have 25 couples coming along so a reasonable sized mob but plenty of room for more.
What better reason for an afternoon out in the city, a mob dance, a ride on a tram, a visit to see Chloe, (Melbourne's most famous nude), have a drink with some other VICROCK people who you might not know, and enjoy some live music with the Straight 8's in one of Melbourne's oldest pubs. Sounds like a good way to spend Sunday arvo!

Looking for a volunteer to take some photos of the mob dance on Sunday. I have someone who will video it and I will put it on youtube but some photos would be great.

28 couples have confirmed they're coming to the mob dance, but still room for plenty more. If you want to join in just turn up at Southern Cross Station, street level at the corner of Spencer and Collins street around 1.45 (Look out for Paul who will be wandering around with a cd player) and join in when the dancing starts at 2pm. Then follow the crowd and we'll do another dance at the bottom of the steps on the walkway to the stadium, then catch a tram and do one in Bourke St mall, then one in Federation Sq and then another under the clocks at Flinders St Station beofe finishing off the afternoon with the Straight 8's playing at Young and Jacksons from 3-6. If you don't get into the city very often this is a great reason to get in there and be part of our vibrant city atmosphere.

What a great day!! Everyone has had a ball dancing it up in the city. A great mob turned up, around 50 or so, and we've had so much fun dancing in different spots around the city with heaps of people passing by filming us and applauding. The city was packed with people doing some treasure hunt with groups running past dressed like Avatar blue creatures, there were buskers all over the place, and Federation Square was full of activities, just a great atmosphere which we added to with our dancing. We finished up at Young & Jacksons and danced the avo away to the Straight 8's until 6pm. Great music guys and very smooth carpet that was great to dance on. Everyone wants to do it again, maybe as an annual event so stay tuned to Vicrock and come and join in on the next one. And if you have a free sunday make the trip into Young and Jaksons for the sunday sessions, great music and great atmosphere and a bit of space to dance.

Had a great day yesterday. Thanks very much to the organisers! There's not much you can do with 6 kids (& 1 sister) that doesn't cost the earth - well it did cost me 8 kids cones at Hungry Jacks ... $4! Fantastic job.
Well done to all Vicrockers for organising such an event, hopefully seeing you all having so much fun has inspired some of the spectators to look into and hopefully join Rock and Roll Clubs
