    Re: Moonlight on the Mountains

    Warburton Moonlight Festival
What a relaxing day it was sitting by the river in Warburton enjoying lunch and sharing stories of Donna. It’s hard to believe a year has gone since her passing. 04/01/2008
Several of us gathered for a memorial picnic before heading to the Moonlight Festival.
The crowd was a little down from last year but that didn’t deter those attending from having one of the best nights on the December calendar.
Matt Dwyer set the mood with some fine guitar picking on the Dobro, displaying his talent in traditional Roots / Blue grass. I personally have only seen Matt with his band and have always thought how great he / they are.

The wild Violets harmonies were sensational, haven’t heard them before but toughly enjoyed them.
Noray’s Gaitorbait filled the hills with that Hillbilly Honkie Tonk music. What a sharp looking out fit Gaitorbait are. If you’re into the Hillbilly sound check these guys out

Coyote Serenade added their touch of class also with the hillbilly/ roots /blue grass style

Ben Rogers Instrumental Asylum had the surfing style music happening enjoyable indeed

Red Rivers and Nailhead were sensational to say the least. Such a treat to see Peter Baulkie on Bass along with Pixie on skins. I was introduced to Red’s music some 6 years ago and have loved his music ever since.

Last but certainly not least the DETENATORS how cool these guys are. True showmen to boot, loosing Eddy Fury (drummer)
prior to Xmas wasn’t easy however the show goes on, congrats to their new drummer Dave…. Eddy Fury’s shoes are hard ones to fill but in true Dets style you had the oval rockin’ from the first step on stage. It’s always challenging introducing new members I'm sure with a few gigs under the belt no one will ever know the change in line up. I look forward to 2009 gigs with The Dets thanks for a TOP NIGHT OUT.

Moonlight on the Mountains festival was great l really enjoyed the scenic atmosphere that was enhanced by the great sounds starting with the excellent voices of the Wild Violets followed by the supurb notes ringing out from Matt Dwyers Guitar a terrific set by Gatorbait. Red Rivers and the Nailheads got us all tapping our feet then the surf music was unbelievable and the night was capped off with the incredible energy of the Detonators, Paul on Guitar just amazes me with his slick licks and Jimmy on vocals and harmonica has such good showmanship they put a grin on my face and finished the night on such a high....Thanks to the organizers for a remarkable night look forward to next year!!
