Went to the F.T.G today and caught the Ramblers in full Flight.
The ramblers always pull a good crowd and today was no different.
Its great to see all the regs who come along time after time to lend their support.
Well done shane, rowdy, johno and the man, Slappin Phil.
Another job well done!!
Most baby boomers would remember the good old western movies we used to watch with mum & dad. Yeah, lots of heart stopping action especially in the saloon bar with only the sheriff to keep the peace.
Even without gun fights, the Gully today felt like resembling the saloon bar of the Wild West. The place was just about running riot, and I was just glad the sheriff didn’t turn up or he & his deputy would have closed down the joint. The cowboys and their horses ..........eh, I mean the rockers & their vintage cars were parked outside the Gully saloon including one bright red 1959 Pontiac that someone told me belongs to a very important person in VicRock. And of course, a saloon bar is never complete without the dancing girls (and boys) and they were out in force today. They were dancin’, jokin’, drinkin’ and full of jolly. The piano man was absent, but Shane and his Blackhill Ramblers were there adding to the carnival atmosphere with everyone’s favourite country rockin’ tunes. And the crowd just love it! Even gave an encore performance. No lollies to give away but Shane & the boys gave us plenty of music today.
Shane & his Blackhill Ramblers play the sort of country rockin’ & rollin’ tunes that most of us love dancing to. Even if you are not into dancing or just prefer playing snooker at the back, his music still gets your head a boppin’ and your feet a tappin’. It’s really that infectious! No “Copper Head Road” but never mind, still plenty of those fabulous numbers to keep the dance floor full all afternoon. And not just a country rock band, the Blackhill Ramblers (with guest performances from Bolto74) also played a number of rockabilly and good old Rock n Roll favourites.
Oh yeah, and we celebrated Lee’s 50th with a birthday cake & song and circle dance for her too. And lots of yummy tasting finger food for everyone. What a fantastic way to finish the weekend!
Thanks to the Gully Hotel and the Blackhill Ramblers for a bloody good time tis arvo!
