    Stringbusters

We arrived in Melb Friday evening for a weekend of fun, (Dancing that is) Jump"n "Jive @ Northside, Frid, The Dets @ Monash, Sat & a band we'd never heard of "Stringbusters"on Sun, our thoughts were, maybe lots of Brass, harmonica, keyboard,or some other instruments, other than strings.
We where way out of whack!
Upon arrival, the little St Kilda Bowling club was vibrating to the sound of the Double bass,Drums & Guitars of this little known new band. The R & R was impeccable and the Rockabilly was fabulous, we just loved it, might I add, all very danceable.
During a break, we decided to get to the bottom of the name, after talking to one of the bands members, it was concluded that, during practice sessions lot's of strings got broken, hence the bands name.
The St Kilda bowling club venue is an original 50s type of place, with a medium sized rather fast dance floor, not a lot of atmosphere, but if your into dancing its great.
Stringbusters are new on the block, well and truly worth a visit.

Hi gjo267, glad you like our Melbourne bands. Unless it's a totally new band using the old name, we've been blessed to listen to the Stringbusters many many times over the years!

St Kilda Bowls Club is a strange and eclectic venue, isn't it? I quite like it because you see new faces and people that aren't part of the traditional rock'n'roll/rockabilly scene. It's always nice to watch new people getting into the music that we know and love.

    Hi Longgonebaby.
We assumed it was a new band, the singer was very familiar like out of the Straight 8s, from the discussions we had with him, it seemed like they where just getting going, like, no business cards yet, no Web site or internet contact. Anyway new or old they were really very good.

We do love the Melb bands, its a bit of a long haul to get there on regular occasion ,700km + round trip, not counting the running around your city. so its got to be an extra good line up.
Last weekend was a classic, Stringbusters was the wild card, and it payed off!
