    Bay View Festival

Did anybody attend all or any of the events for the Bay View Festival at Altona? I haven't seen anything about it. Was away for the weekend so couldn't go. Any reports at all? ...............

It looks like nobody went to this festival. Surely somebody must have been there??

    Hiya jdgreene,

I attended preety much all of the festival, and it was great!

I couldnt be there Friday night, as unfortunately our dance was also on the same night, but I heard that the Speedsters played a great gig to a full house, and everyone had a good night.

Saturday morning I was among the other "weiry-eyed" car fanatics to arrive at the Club early for the rod run. - Actually I arrived a little late, but luckily still made it in time for departure! We all cruised off and did a run down to the Williamstown beach, and after about an hour of our convoy turning heads everywhere, we meandered our way back to the Sports Club for lunch. The food at the club was great, and very reasonable with their pricing.

Then the Elvis fans got a taste of our local boys doing their tribute, and a few danced on the side.

The dance workshops were held by Nigel & Linda (Jive Cats - Melbourne) Robin & Elva (Westcoast Rockers - Geelong) and Libby & Nathan (Lakeside Rockers - Sale). The content of the workshops was fantastic, and everyone who attended them raved about them. I did Libby & Nathan's workshop, and I'm "borrowing" one of the moves that they taught to use in my own class routines this month - it was a ripper!

I initially couldnt attend the Saturday night gig at Wyndham as I was setting up Gorgeous Gear at the TopCats dance, but car dramas rendered me transport-less mid-journey! I then decided to get a lift down to Hoppers Crossing where a massive crowd witnessed a great dance competition, and Itchy Fingers belting out their classic flavour of tunes. The dance at Hoppers was a night to remember.

After a "very" early start to a "very" sore head I got the van fixed first thing and raced back down to Altona for the Sunday Outdoor Festival.

The late arrival meant that I couldnt set up outdoors, but luckily had use of the room that the Workshops were held on Saturday. 5 awesome bands played all day long, and luckily the rain held off which brought more people out in the afternoon and the day ended up being a great day of Outdoor Dancing, Music, Entertainers, HotRods, Stalls, Food and friends.

The wind kept it a little chilly down by the beach, but the fact that it stayed dry all day kept it all going.

Well done to Anna and her Rock 'n' Roll Rebels on a really fun weekend filled with different things to do, I really enjoyed myself.

    .
Mary had "foot probs" on Friday night, which stopped us attending...

But we did get to the Saturday night & Sunday afternoon gigs - &
    they were both great...

And we've heard that the workshops were outstanding...

Despite the weather forecast for Sunday, Melbourne did manage to
do the "right thing" & turned on a cool but glorious sunny day...

As it became clear that the weather was going to be OK after all,
the crowd continued to build up as the day went on - & it ended
    being a fabulous day...

To those of you who couldn't get there - we hope that you can
make it next year, because you missed a top weekend...

Congratulations Anna - excellent organization, bands & venue...

We're pleased to hear you're going to make this an annual event...
