Hi to anyone out there especially bands interested in some HOG WASH
I joined Vic Rock over 3 years ago, thinking what a great site letting
people know where bands are playing, And all things related to the music
That inspires the people that look upon this site, Instead What I have noticed
More recently, this site has become the stomping ground of a select few
People Who use this site as a means to complain about anyone and anything
And the worse part of it these comments are there for the world to see,
Now please don’t get me wrong, I believe in free speech, But if it was not for
These bands or solo performer or your D.J’s , Whether good or bad
The people who look upon Vic Rock, Would have no where to go,
So Lighten up out there, if you come across someone or a venue you don’t like,
Then find Somewhere else to go, I don’t know if the muso’s out there are like me,
But I get tired of people who have nothing better to do with there life, It’s the same
At gigs when people (who by choice ) sit on the table right in front of the Speakers and
Then complain your to loud, I have had such complaints myself in the last few days
From a Fabiola and a Millie, complaining about my volume, I answered back with
A truthful comment ( which if anyone knows me out there, They Know I will always
Give an honest answer ) I told them, One my ex band members ( the Highlighters )
Wears a T. Shirt that says If my music is too loud your to old, Which for the record
My son Tells me almost everyday, Well I am now getting Some not so nice mails,
And remarks sent privatly , And This example is exactly What I mean, Is this what the
Founders of Vic Rock had in mind, I would be very surprised to think so,
I believe in this site, As I believe most do too, I just think it’s time to cut out the Crap
And use this site for what it was intended for.

p.s While I am on the subject how come most users on this site use name’s
Like Fabiola and not there real names, the entertainers etc, not only use there
Names but tell everyone were they will be and when, And half the time don’t know
Who it is they are talking too, Just a comment.

Frankie, your complaints have often been voiced before. The fact is VicRock is a public forum and unlike a magazine or publication it is a place where everyone has the right to speak their mind and voice their opinions. Unfortunately when they do some people are going to be offended. People do have the right of reply, however, as difficult as it is, the best way to deal with annoying posts and private messages is to ignore them.

About people identities - I appreciate what you mean. But by allowing aliases, the forum (and website) is a busier more active place. Many people (registered members and visitors) return often to catch up on the latest goings on. In so doing they are being exposed to your advertising.

These issues have been a concern to a few members for some time. The best way to resolve them once and for all is to remove the forums and just have the notices on the front page. What do you think people? Should we do that?

Oh, my goodness, I cant believe you came on this site to complain about the sound being to loud, when you tell people they are to old, if they complain. Here you are doing the very same thing. Ask yourself this.....are all my Gigs full, do people come and say they had a great time and do they keep coming back for more, if your answer is yes, then you must be doing something right, why worry about what I say. I was making a valid point, I still come to see you play and sing. You must be a new age sensitive man,

no forum, that would make life on here so much simplr. then no one can bitch and carry on. have no aliasus i would be willing to do that if evey one else was doing the same. but this site is fun and there is nothing like it anywhere. it is so easy to offend people. the r and r mag thats around does have info but there is no room for chat and interaction like here. have a few more moderaters and delete the offending stuff but why people shuld have to spend there free time policing this site when it is a type of service for the people.

please, please, please , the remarks that come and go are mostly from people with short memories
you just have to step above them because without all the carrying on that go`s on here what would you have to laugh at also a lot of the topics are interesting although i do not know a lot of these people i get great enjoyment out of their input, i am one person who has been 'crapped' on (using your phrase) with only my opinion that i expressed ''not directed at anyone person ''.
so should i throw the towel in and quit because one or two are far from impressed by my comment/s NO dont change anything leave well enough alone

Never seen your act Frankie, but I can identify and validate your post. Unfortunately, most public forums on special-interest-music have a few road-ragers running a muck. Get used to it and grow a thick skin if you wanna stay in the game Frank. I’ve had people try to change my music views, slander me, spread BS to try and discredit the gigs I help promote … even tried it physically, ALL attempts failed. I love the scene & have not changed my views on Melbourne rock & roll. So I suggest to you Frank … Never stop believing in yourself or what you do, and do it to the best of your ability. You will always be far happier then those ‘Legends in their own lunchtime knowalls’.

Reading Frankie’s post had prompted a reflection of my own experience of past negativity on this site. My response started out as a simple statement but may have ended with overtones of frustration. Re the “Lunchtime Legend” description in my post … there was no reference to you or 99% of members on this forum. I’m not interested in what was said and “In my Opinion” the sort-out of personal issues should be attempted through the sites private e-mail facility. By the way, Mel has created an excellent Special-Interest-Music site. I feel privileged to be part of it as a member. All is good.

On yer Frankie..obviously a working muso. Ingrained in my brain is some of the comments I have heard regularly in almost 40 years of gigging..How can we forget the "too fast", "too slow", "too loud", "turn it up!", the curious "play songs we know" (after you do your mind-reading course), or one of my favorites from the '70s was a pub manager complained that our unknown little band couldn't pull a crowd, and pulled the plug on our gig without pay (Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs were playing 1 km down the road at the next pub at the same time)..lucky one of the band's Dad was a humungus mountain of an angry man -we got paid. Never the less, its the nature of the beast, and off we go to the next gig.
