I am looking at getting an Amp for gigging with. Wanting something around 300wats + that will work good with the Double Bass. I am looking for that Rockabilly sound. Any advice as to what to get? Looking to spend between $500-$1000.
Bass is set up with Clef Gut Strings and I am a Slap Bass Player..
Any replies with helpful advice would be appreciated.

Then you will need an amp with an impedence buffer. Checkout www.urbbob.com for info on why you need an impedence buffer. If you try running an Underwood with no impedence bufferering preamp you get crap tone (that's my opinion) Once you sort that out you can start looking for an amp.
FWIW, I use an Schaller Magnetic pickup (no good for gut strings) and a fingerboard transducer through a K&K stereo in preamp into an Eden WT400 Traveller and a Lorantz 2x12 speaker cab with a big high frequecy horn that's been specifically made for URB. All works good. Never have any troubke with feedback. As for how authentic the sound is, I'll leave that to the purists.
Can anyone tell me what pickup Bill Black used - he had an authentic sound!!
