The May date was just be too soon. The 2021 Champs are now scheduled for 4 September.
The Victorian Championships are always one the top competition events in the national Rock’n’Roll dance calendar.
Holding the Champs this year would be great, but Covid precautions have to be factored in.
Until the vaccination program takes effect there is still the prospect of restrictions, rule changes, travel bans and lock downs occurring at short notice.
Yes, dancing is coming back after the long closure but now competitors need to have enough time to practise and to reach full fitness. This is especially for important for those in lift events where strength and flexibility are essential for safety.
The Victorian Rock’n’Roll Dance Association has decided that the predicted May date is just too soon. Work is now progressing on moving the event to September.
