    Greazefest Brisbane 2019

This year's festival was the 20th anniversary of Greazefest. Not only that, with other rockabilly festivals being folded up over the last few years, this Brisbane based festival seems to be growing in popularity from year to year. The crowd is getting bigger with several thousands attendees passing through the gates over the 3 days, and there are more bands playing, including those from overseas.

The weather is always so much better in Brisbane in August compared to the cold wintry conditions of the southern states. It was warm and sunny and one feels so much more energised to dance and listen to the bands on stage plus walking around the Cleveland showgrounds looking at classic cars and hot rods and all the merchandise stores. There was Pin Ups competitions and these events are generally very popular with the general public.

This year's festival was headed by the Palladins and Jason Lee Wilson from the USA and well supported by some of the most popular bands from around Australia. They include the Detonators, Kid James, Ross & the Wild Kids, MotorV8ors and Hank's Jalopy Demons from Melbourne, crowd favourite - Rusty Pinto from Perth, the Flattrakkers from NSW and several local Queensland bands such as Palomino III, Linelockers, Hi Boys, Miss Teresa and Knights of Sin.

The festivals started on Friday night with with 4 bands and a huge turn out of rockabilly devotees dancing all night long. Saturday was all day and night event along with Pin Ups competition and classic and hotrods display. The festival finished late on Sunday afternoon with more bands and dancing.

I have been going to Greazefest in the last 5 years and have enjoyed it every year. Some may not know but it's not just a rockabilly music festival. The festival features a wide genre of music and talent ranging from rockabilly, punkabilly, blues, roots rock 'n' roll, country and even 1960's style surf music. There's always something for everyone and you can definitely dance to most of the music on offer. It's a 1950's style music festival so you can dress up in your best 1950's clothing and indulge yourself in the atmosphere of that era.

Here are some of the videos I took during the festival. Enjoy....
