Bush Dance class Sunday 26th Aug
On Sunday 26th, to continue the month of trying new dance styles, we will have a bush dance lesson from 6.30-7.30pm with Jane from the Victorian Folk Music Club at Chatham Primary School, 1 Banool Rd Surrey Hills, $10 entry, BYO food and drinks. Tea and coffee provided.
This will be suitable for non dancers so ask your friends along. Australian Bush Dance has its roots in the very early settlement of the colony, and was influenced by the styles and customs of the early settlers. It became a popular form of social dancing in both the country and the city, but only got its name during the folk revival in the 1950’s – you have quite likely done some of this at primary school. The Victorian Folk Music Club runs a bush dance with a live band on the first Saturday of the month at Ringwood East Senior Citizens hall, 8-11pm $12.
We will also have social rock n roll, progressives and line dances until 9pm to keep you all busy and on the dance floor.
Please share around, thanks.
