    Greazefest Brisbane 2018

Brisbane put on a glorious sunny weekend for Greazefest 2018 especially for those coming in from the much cooler southern & western states. The festival which opens on Friday night with 4 bands was attended by a large crowd and continued on all weekend with more bands, fashion, cars & dancing. Definitely another fantastic showcasing of 1950's style music, culture, fashion, pin up competition, cars & rock n roll dancing. This music festival has been running for 19 years in a row and is surely one of the most iconic and "must attend" Australian festivals celebrating all that we love about the 1950's era.

As in previous years, there were bands from Victoria, NSW, Tasmania and of course including several other local Queensland bands. Headlining the musical acts was none other than Darrel Higham from the UK. The music genre was diverse ranging from rock n roll, rockabilly, blues & country so there was something for everyone whatever your musical tastes. No 1950's style music festival is complete unless accompanied by lots of rock n roll and/or rockabilly dancing. The punters love their bands & music but they also love their rock n roll dancing too.

Hotrods and cars are obviously a big part of the Greazefest festival and this year was no different. The Cleveland Showground is just perfect with lots of open spaces to display those hotrods, kustom cars & specialty bikes. There was also a Pin Up competition along with lots of merchandise stores for those wanting to get the latest on the 1950's fashion as well as specialty barber & hair styling shops.

At a time when we are seeing the demise of several 1950's style music festivals, it is indeed pleasing to see the Greazefest festival remaining very popular and growing in appeal with new converts to the scene. Well done to the Greazefest promoters (Lori Lee & her helpers). Another very successful year for Greazefest 2018 ......
