    Re:Stop,Look and Listen

Kempy, if you can fit them in I would lurve to hear these songs by Aussie artists.

    "So Tough" - JO'K
"Some Kinda Fun" - Missing Links
"Tossin' & Turnin'"- Ray Hoff and the Hoff Beats
    "Farmer John" - Johnny Cooper

    Happy Australia Day!

    Thanks Dig

Kempy.. how about Shane's original Wine, Whiskey.. from the BHRamblers CD recorded right here in good old Melbourne at the cost of one slab of Melbourne Bitter -that's about as Aussie as it gets.

    Re:Stop,Look and Listen

Sorry Paul but one of your suggestions is sending me off stream here and into a tirade.

I detest the pop song Khe Sahn.

I have the impression it might have been just the chance for Cold Chisel to cash in on the Australian publicÂ’s reappraisal, and even guilt, over the whole Viet Nam thing.

Correct me if I am wrong but the Khe Sahn US Marine base was up near the border and was not in the Australian area of operations.

“… to the sappers ‘round Vung Tau,” would have been more appropriate, and “… with the diggers at Long Tan” even better.

And of what relevance is “sailed into Sydney Harbour” and “1973”?

And why does a helicopter pilot have emotional ties to Army Engineers; not even RAEME.

The Red Gum song “Only 19” is probably better except that Nashos were only 20.

What with all the "pop" requests???

There's loads of Aussie Rockabilly and 50's style bands who have released some top-flight stuff: Satellites, Atomic Hi-Tones, The Creepers, Salt Flat Trio, Retro Rockets, Jump Devils, Itchy Fingers, Stringbusters, Detonators, Straight 8's, Louis King, Benny and The Fly By Niters, Gator Bait, Blackhill Ramblers (not to mention the Preston Story compilations) to name a few off the top of my head.......leave the pop stuff for "mainstream" radio. My thoughts exactly Cat. Firebird, Salt Flat Trio, Jeannie Lush & the Lubricators, Roadsters, BobKats, Chrome Daddies. Diddley Daddies in fact all the DaddyÂ’s. Just keep it raw, keep it rockinÂ’ and keep it Aussie.
