It was good rockin' at the Monash Hotel last night in staging the second event for the Melbourne Rockabilly Meltdown 2014. How we rockers have missed the good ole Monash! Fresh memories came flooding back as rockers, rabs & billies came charging through the hotel's front entrance and get entertained and danced to three bands - Atomic Hi Tones, the Whiteliners and Flattrackers. It must have been close to two years or more since the "Nash" closed its door to live music events on Saturday nights. And the feelings and vibes were very good last night. And why shouldn't it be? As a venue, the Monash hotel has a special feel about it for live rockabilly - intimate atmosphere, safe surrounds, great bands, great rockin' music, lots of dancing, chatting and drinking. Good times indeed ....

Atomics kicked off dancing for the night. This band needs no further introduction having rocked punters for a quite a few years now. Not only in Melbourne but in other big rockabilly events around Australia. Followed by the re-formed, the Whiteliners, giving us a rendition of Hank Williams' style Western swing & Southern honkerbilly twang. Love their music and very danceable indeed. The Flattrackers have been associated with the Meltdown for a number of times already. It's straight, high octane, hold no barred rockabilly mixed with the band's own compositions. Punters just love this band!

And today, the Meltdown climaxed with its show down at the Shoppingtown Hotel in Doncaster with 9 bands. There will be hotrods display, tatts competition, Kustom culture and merchandise galore. It's a first event to be held over there so will be interesting to see how things go....
