Thumbs up to Peter Scanlon and the rest of the team who bring out the Australian Rock’n’Roll Appreciation Society (ARRAS) magasine, “the Big Beat”.
The latest edition, their 100th, has a brilliant story about Vic OÂ’Neil, front man for the Straight Eights and a significant figure in the Melbourne and Australian RÂ’nÂ’R scene.
It is so good to read about a real, live local star.
As well as all the info about his music career I was interested to learn that Vic is skilled with horses and has had many riding related roles in movies.
You have just gotta get a copy of the Big Beat and read the story for yourself. I was so rapt I asked Vic to autograph his picture on the cover of mine.
Just remember that he is a busy bloke so do not bugging him to autograph your copy.
The Big Beat magasine is one of the benefits of belonging to the Australian Rock'n'Roll Appreciation Society (ARRAS).
Lots of Forum members are also in ARRAS. I know that Wild Cat writes a regular column in the Big Beat and I have a feeling the vitriolic Figjam is a member too.

You know Zeek I always thought you were a bloke. I was surprised to learn you were a sheila and to hear that you could not come the Middle because you were suffering from "woman's troubles".
You know, I remember that movie. The story was really confusing. I think they were foreigners. That pony must have been tired because the nice lady had to carry it on her back.
