"Benny & the Flyby Niters" is definitely no fly by night sort of band. It is one of Australia's most authentic 1950's style jump blues and R&B bands, and Benny himself has a wide following of passionate supporters along with regular gigs overseas.

With Snappy filling in on double bass, Benny again thrills the punters at the Gully yesterday with many of his self penned songs. You could dance swing or rock & roll or even Balboa your afternoon away. Or you could just sit back with a cold beer in hand and hum along to Benny's cool melodic tunes. All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon indeed. A very good crowd in attendance, and it's always nice to see some young families enjoying a day out at the Gully and with their little ones having a good time and joining in the dancing. I feel with some due care and floor craft, there should be enough room for all to dance - young & old.

The Gully has been called the "church of rock" at times but with yesterday's performance, it wouldn't be too far wrong to detect a denominational split to also call the Gully - "church of the blues".
