Which is the one most fun band around town? In one word ...... alright, perhaps more than one word, the Dirty Boogie Band! This “8 piece” band, with its extra- vocals & big swingin’ & rockin’ sound plays Setzer & Cherry Poppin’ Daddies’ Neo Swing, Swingin’ Blues, 1940’s Big Band favourites and even a Bill Halley & the Comets’s signature tune. If you love dancing, you will love the band!
And special treat for the Monash punters last night, the band also gave a good party rendition of Christina Aguilera’s Candy Man and a 1960’s “twister” ..... ouch! My ankles hurt a bit this morning.
If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to see this band, well, let me say the band exudes fun and high energy on stage. Love the band, love its music and you want more, did I hear you say? No worries! The two prettiest singers in town, Libby & Niki, not only shake their hips & playfully pout their lips on stage they also, if you are lucky enough, invite you to dance with them whilst the band continues playing on stage. That’s what I call a complete package of entertainment services! LOL
It was a very good night at the Nash. The dance floor was full all night. Even the non dancers and first time visitors to Monash left feeling very impressed with the band.
Good to see Jazza & Greenpixie there ....... hey! love your full frontal “chesty” dance move. Ouch! Reminded me of a scene from WWF World Wrestling I see on TV. Good also to see T7 and his lovely Aida plus many other familiar faces. And of course, without even mentioning, Whem is just about a permanent fixture there. The ladies just love dancing with him!
Catch the Dirty Boogie Band next time – the King of big swingin’ sound! They 'll tickle your dancing bones ............
Spot on with your review Jitz. We sure had a fun night boppin’ to the swing sounds of Dirty Boogie last night. I must say their sound was delivered with a lot stronger energy since the last time we saw DBB. I put it down to their new bass player’s confidence in settling into this band. I agree with JB, do yourself a favour and check this band out as did first timers Terrence7, Aida and the couple we brought along … they all commented favourably.
Glad you liked that new dance move Jitz; we call it the ‘Gut Bump’. Perfected over many months of practice. Unlike some lift & jump moves, it’s relatively safe so feel free to try it some day. Also, contrary to the rumour, your female partner cannot get pregnant performing the ‘Gut Bump’ …. well … we’re 80% sure they can’t.
Live & let Live, Love & let Love, Rock & let Roll, plus related clichés.
