30 Years Gone

- Elvis and girlfriend, Ginger Alden, return to Graceland a little after midnight.
- Elvis sits down at the piano and sings a couple of gospel numbers. The last song he ever sings is the old country song "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain."
- Elvis takes sleeping pills. (Three packets, apparently) He plans to get up at around 7:00 pm.
- When Ginger wakes around 1:30 pm, Elvis is not in bed. She discovers him shortly after lying face-down in a pool of vomit on the bathroom floor.
- At Baptist Memorial Hospital all efforts to revive him fail and his death is recorded at 3:30 pm.
- The official cause of death is "cardiac arrhythmia due to undetermined heartbeat."

I thought Elvis died 16 August 1977 in Graceland, but it was the 17th August here in Australia when we found out.
