Thumbs up Re: Adrian's Swing workshop Sunday 26th July

Thank you Adrian for reviving "In The Mood" and "Falling Off A Log".

I am really looking forward to dancing these great old line dances again at local venues.

It will make a nice change from the preponderance of "cowboy" line dances now clogging the floors.

Hopefully DJs will offer us a broader mix of line dances.

Re: Adrian's Swing workshop Sunday 26th July

Its 20 year since Lindy Hop was reintroduced to Australia in July 1995 in Syndey and in Aug 1995 in Melbourne. Adrian Spadaro brought Rob Bloom down from Syndey to teach several workshops and kick off the swing revival. Later the father of swing, Frankie Manning came to Melbourne in 2002, aged in his late 80's.

Come to Camberwell Bowls on Sunday 26th July and learn some basic Lindy Hop moves including the first section of the "Lindy Chorus" routine (see youtube link below), plus charleston variations (including tandem). Also teaching the first lindy linedance taught in Melbourne, "In the mood", and 'Off the log" and Jitterbug stroll. August sees 20 years since swing / lindy hop, was introduced to Melbourne by Adrian so what better time to have a go at learning some great swing moves.

BYO food and soft drinks, tea and coffee provided. Full kitchen facilities so why not bring something for dinner and hang around, have a bite to eat and practice what you've learnt after the class. A great way to stay warm on a cold sunday afternoon.

Re: Adrian's Swing workshop Sunday 26th July

What a great turn up for a wet sunday afternoon with around 25 enjoying the challenge of learning the Lindy Chorus. We got thru all the routine that was performed for the Frankie 100 tribute last year, as Adrian pushed everyone along. Fun dancing to some great swing music for a change. The Jitterbug stroll line dance was certainly a challenge to learn as well. If there is enough interest Adrian will teach the lindy chorus (at a slower pace) in Aug from 5pm in the advanced class at Camberwell. Its a great routine to learn and is danced by swing dancers all over the world. Search for Frankie 100 on youtube to see dancers all over the world dancing the lindy chorus last year. See gig guide for details of sunday's classes.
