i cant find the thread about bands we really dig and want to see,so i coud add the low riders,as id only seen them once a couple years back when?.well,i called in to the gully a couple hours late this evening, and wished i had of been there at the start,i was headbanging walkin in,and knew, this is another band id travel to see again!a mixture of rocknroll, billy, country, blues!not often we get to cha cha or slow salsa at the church, and a great crowd havin a good time, family orientated, being mothers day,a few young pre teens showing style and attitude!on the floor,im sure they will be back, all the regulars out in force, but back to the lowriders!a must see next time you spot them in the gig guides, hey!cool dudes, cool threads, top band...
Too right Terrance, a very good band that I always enjoy. Even though I am not a blues fan I like the Lowriders Sound and attitude. Now that's a contradiction, ha.
Yes a very good afternoon indeed, everyone was so happy and dancing along to all their sets.
Hi Longgonebaby. Yes they were great. And I agree "Great" is as good a word as any to use as a compliment for honest and determined entertainment.
I did have a longer reply written that I have now deleted, thankfully.
It is irrelevant to discuss differences of musical interpretation unless one is a recognised expert, whatever that is anyway. I'm certainly not expert at anything.
Unless bands are definite in stating what their musical styles are at the time they are playing we can interpret loosely (personally)how we perceive them at that time, rightly or wrongly. The loose reference to Blues was a personal reference, as in 'bluesy' not (take your pick). I don't really care too much if I am not always politically correct. It's all fun to me anyway.
Hell if the Lowriders say they just play music, well, that's good enough for me. Go guys.
My wife and I really enjoyed the Lowriders. Good sound and a good crowd. We hadnt been to a R&R dance for quite a few years. Saw what we were missing. It got us motivated to start dance lessons. Going to Dandy RSL on Sunday.
G’day Ramp and welcome to the forum. As I got a bit to do with the FTG Hotel re: ‘Rockin’ the Gully’, I’m glad that you & your wife enjoyed your experience at this venue with the effervescent ‘Lowriders’. Apart from the brilliance of free talent that’s on offer at the Ferntree Gully Hotel every Sunday afternoon, there is copious amounts of entertainment to be had on a Sunday night around the South-East suburbs. Dandenong RSL, Dandenong Workers Club, Georges in Ringwood, Micawber’s in Belgrave. The main thing is … welcome back into the scene guys.
PS. If you guys wanna be in the ‘Cream of the Scene’ … DO NOT! miss the ‘Rockabilly Rampage’ at the FTGH on the 25th of this month … it’s gonna be hectic rodz & rockabilly … It’s gonna be HUGE!!!!!!! .... and it’s gonna be worth it. ....
Live & let Live, Love & let Love, Rock & let Roll, plus related clichés.
