    Flattrakkers new CD

Here’s a review of the new CD by visiting rockabilly outfit … the Flattrakkers.

Can you smell the methanol??……The Flattrakkers new album ‘Winner Takes All’ is finally here. Hot off the press the boys have put down an all new 14 track variety feast for all. They’re stoked with the result and can’t wait to bring it to you.

The band is Mark Hawkins, Bruce Findlay and Matt Ward and together they’ve played many a gig around Newcastle and Sydney and travelled regularly interstate to showcase their very own revved up sound. In March 2010 the boys were invited to New Zealand for the Beach Hop Festival and were met with such a sizzling reception the organisers quickly locked them in for 2011.

In 2004 The Flattrakkers recorded their debut album ‘High Octane’ and were overwhelmed by the response received here in Australia and around the world. The album was enough to set their “sound” and The Flattrakkers name in concrete.

In 2008 ‘Speedcar Demon’ was released with the same response from fans although leaving them begging for more. ‘High Octane’ and ‘Speedcar Demon’ continue to gain momentum and attention to this day with tunes being featured in many a hot rod/racing doco (in at least 3 countries) and the title track High Octane also gets a run in the Paul Hogan movie Charlie & Boots.

These local boys will continue to raise the stakes both near and far and are a real eye-opener to see live. They work extra hard to make sure each gig is a new experience with plenty of originals and covers from artists such as Johnny Cash, Wayne Hancock, Bruce Springsteen, The Stray Cats and even Billy Idol.

Melbourne fans can catch these cats live at the Monash Hotel this Saturday night 21 May with Sydney band No Brakes and our own … Atomic Hi-Tones. They will also lay it down for you at the Melbourne Rockabilly Meltdown on Sunday 22 May.
