Flanagan's bar at the Middle Hotel FTG have hornswoggled another performance by those rock n’ roots supremos … The Detonators. The sounds of this quartet is best described as a blend of Chuck Berry, Little Walter & Hound Dog Taylor with the infusion of a blazing jump-rock energy. These "Throttle Jockey Demons" consist of - Vocalist & harp-player James "Rockbottom" Moloney who won the "Golden Harmonica" competition at the 2005 Tamworth Country Music Festival. Guitarist Paulie "The Kid" Bignell who plays in such an authentic, stylistic & precise manner, plus the driving rhythms of "Doghouse" Dave Philpots on big bull fiddle and Eddie Fury on skins who takes care of engine room duties. The Detonators, through their original songs, recreate the styles that made the mid to late 50s such a vital time in music’s history. They play an era, not simply a genre. It’s difficult not to jump around to their jump-rock style, which is as slick as their teddy-boy quiffs.
