Ditto above...but in my mind the words of the song "Black Velvet", sung so soulfully by Alannah Myles, give one of teh best tributes to "The King".....
"Up in Memphis the music's like a heatwave
White lightening, bound to drive you wild
Mama's baby's in the heart of every school girl
"Love me tender" leaves 'em cryin' in the aisle
The way he moved, it was a sin, so sweet and true
Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for ...
Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
Black velvet if you please"

Tel, nice posts but please - take a breath. Use punctuation and paragraphs to break up the slabs of text and make it easier for us to read.)
ELVIS
Eventhough I hate seeing pop songs, like Black Velvet, used to illustrate points about Rock I have to agree with the sentiment. Give me the Memphis Elvis everytime.
The Las Vegas Elvis is a sad, confused and badly advised bloke imitating and parodying himself.
"You've still got me, your Little Tommy. Together we'll find a brand new mommy", "Hunka hunka", "... and his mother cries" etc, etc, ad real nauseum - SPA-YEW !!
I wanna hear "Feel So Bad" with that honking soaring sax break.

Elvis also died at the age of 42 on the 16 August 1977
Also a friend of Elvis, who grow up with him in a public housing project in the Laudersdale Courts in Memphis from 1948 until 1954. Johnny Burnette also passed away by drowning when a Cabin Cruiser stuck his fishing boat after dark on the 14 August 1964
