Excerpts from Purple Sue’s last E Mail sent on Saturday 2 Sep, Appalachian time.
“I have been out today for lunch with the group … at a restaurant called The Chop House.
Went today to Bean Station restaurant, and had a BLT and Vinegar Pie. (Bean Station is a place, … and she had a what kind of pie?)
We are all going out for lunch tomorrow, Sunday, to a place about an hour's ride. It is called Pop's Place and it is on the river, so that should be nice.
I won’t write anymore about the trip until I get back home, and that will include my time in Nashville.
Michael Knox (Buddy Knox’s son) has now contacted me. When we get to Nashville on Wednesday I am to call him to work out a time and place to catch up.
I may get to the Gully next week, not sure. Can you please tell me who is playing? (There it is - the true GullyBilly Spirit - you can take the lady out of the Gully but you can't take the Gully out of the lady.)
Purple Sue arrived home on Sunday and managed to make a brief appearance at the Middle.
Here are excerpts from her last dispatches and pics.
"Hi Rob,
I just have to say this.... Nashville, is the best place [besides Sturgis]...
Plenty to see, great places to have a drink, and soak up the atmosphere.
Found this great guitar outside Legends.
Roberts Bar, caught a great couple of artists singing there, pity that the Rockabilly Band, that was due on that night [Thursday] had a member who was a bit on the sick side, so no show.
So sorry to those who wanted to know about Rockabilly/rock n roll dancing, I looked for it, but it was no where to be found. (Apparently Two Step is the dance of choice.)
Michael is a record producer. Sue reports that Michael was mighty impressed with the CDs from our local bands that she took over.
Tom, drowning his sorrow at Coyote Ugly, as Sue gets ready to fly home.
Tom will have no-one to keep his back warm as he rides back from Nashville to Tennessee. After all, Sue has been sitting behind him for the last 10,000 miles.
