A BIG thanks to Faye, Larry and members of the Hamilton Rock and Roll Club for a fantastic week-end of music and dance. We arrived Friday evening and headed out to the "meet and greet" at their club rooms and were warmly welcomed with dancing to CD's on the jukebox and a shared supper. Saturday morning was demo dancing for all who wanted to join in at the Performing Arts centre, with passing shoppers treated to some great music and enthusiastic dancing.
The band for Saturday night was The Lincolns from SA. I can't say I remember dancing to them before but we thought they were SENSATIONAL with the dance floor basically full all evening. They played a great selection of their own music and popular songs we all know and love. Dancers came from all over the state including Warrnambool, Colac, Geelong, Melbourne and Echuca to enjoy the weekend. The venue was great with a very nice dance floor and Hamilton had decorated it in the Rock and Roll style to add to the atmosphere. During the evening there was a rock and roll "dance off' with three couples asked to dance. Congratulations to Andrew and Mary from T-Bird Rockers who took out the win and received an impressive perpetual shield to defend next year.
After a bit of a slow start the next day we headed back to Geelong, full of enthusiasm for our next weekend of dancing at Horsham in July.
Great work Hamilton!
