Melbourne rock & roll community has done it again participating in large numbers at Rock n Suzie's Good Friday Charity event held at Berwick Leisure Centre yesterday. There was also another rock & roll charity event held at "Double Deuce" in Sunshine. The event in Berwick started at 10 in the morning and the last band finished playing close to 11 at night. Rockers and family groups streamed in continuously throughout the day and night to keep the dance floor busy. No doubt there were some very tired dancers at the end but all had a great time dancing to some of Melbourne's best 1950's style rock & roll and rockin' blues bands.
In total, more than 10 bands and DJ Jeff participated in the event freely donating their time towards charity. There were merchandise stalls, food vendors and a large display of Kustoms and hotrods in the car park outside the leisure centre. Rock n Suzie and her small band of helpers have been holding this charity for so many years now. It is slowly but surely becoming a Melbourne institutions to show case our rock & roll community's contribution in the name of charity and in helping those people who are less fortunate than many of us.
Well done all. Let's keep dancing and supporting our 1950's rock & roll scene. Just as important, let us not forget we can feel proud in our passion in supporting charity events.
