A HUGE thank you to Ezra Lee & the Havoc Band for the show at the Elsternwick Hotel on Sunday afternoon.
The extra bonus was a Matt Dwyer solo show and then Matt sitting in with the band!!
Music that I love and room to dance – Rock’n’Roll Heaven!
As so often happens in Melbourne we had the privilege of dancing to the music of world class musicians in a friendly, intimate environment and all it cost was a few drinks.
As soon as he touches the keyboard Ezra becomes Jerry Lee Lewis. And that is not to say that Ezra is just an imitator – he has a warm stage presence, a super voice and a tremendous talent that makes me grin with pleasure.
Matt Dwyer is the consummate blues guitarist. The melancholy slide pieces made the hair on my arms stand up. The complex pieces were fascinating. The snappy dialogue was a hoot. And then with the band his turns as lead guitar were powerful and driving.
The Havoc Band were solid and tight; producing a full spectrum of sound.
The Elsternwick Hotel is another mellow pub venue with a friendly vibe. There was room to dance. Even though the floor was carpet it was an OK surface. Drinks were a reasonable price and food was available.
We will go there again.
A fan videoed the show. He said it will be posted on YouTube so search for Ezra Lee & the Havoc Band.
