Gasolina located at 25 Dukes Walk, South Wharf is just a short walk from DFO and the Hilton Hotel in the city. It is part of the new business & entertainment complex situated along the Yarra river aimed at revitalising the old Port of Melbourne's wharf area and creating a new commercial & residential heart for inner city Melbourne. Gasolina is the home of custom build bikes and has a garage that you can commission to design and build the bike of your dreams. It also runs a restaurant & bar featuring live music and entertainment.

It was my first visit to Gasolina last weekend. But for the last several months or so, the venue has been staging fairly regular live 1950's style music gigs, usually on a Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. I like the venue - it has a warmth, cosy ambience for a city bar & restaurant. The dance floor is concrete but relatively large and smooth which is great for dancing. Parking is not an issue with hundreds of "Wilson's" commercial parking spaces at nearby DFO complex but can be expensive charged at an hourly rate. But if you buy a drink or meal, you get a 50% discount. As most gigs at Gasolina are "free entry" a night out of entertainment and dancing is really not that prohibitive. And the pizzas are delicious!

If you haven't been there before, do give Gasolina at South Wharf a go if you enjoy live 1950's style music and dancing. It is a welcome addition to the list of venues that continue to support 1950's live music scene.
