It is important to give recognition to people who make a special effort in their particular community. That is why the Victorian Rock'n'Roll Dance Association has recently established the Victorian Rock'n'Roll Dance Hall of Fame.
Four identities, two individuals and two couples, have been selected to be the inaugural inductees.
The letter advising these inductees that they are now part of the Victorian Rock'n'Roll Dance Hall of Fame includes this wording:
" ... made a notable contribution to Rock’n’Roll dancing over a significant period of time."
The inductees are (in no special order) Little Maria, Kevin & Carol Ross, Jenny Croydon (R'n'R News) and John & Heather Jarman.
Their induction was announced at the 2013 Annual General Meeting. Thank you to the members who attended the AGM and who have kept this exciting news a secret until all the inductees could be properly notified. The Hall of Famers will receive their awards at the 2014 Victorian Rock'n'Roll Dance State Championships.
It was a difficult process to select a final four to be the first recipients of this honour. We did not want to award too many places and so swamp the Hall of Fame. However these people clearly stood out as worthy recipients.
