THE LINCOLN'S Went Down A Storm @ CHRISTINE'S Rockabilly last month
I’m so excited tell you about our club night at ‘CHRISTINES’. I have moved the events to ‘Lucky 13 Garage’ a purpose built garage decked out like a 50’s diner. It has a new dance floor and a neon 50’s feel. First to play on the night was a 3 piece local band called Southbound Train who are new on the scene - and then, a band I discovered on my trip to Adelaide THE LINCOLN'S.
The Lincolns really went down a storm in their ‘Teddy Boy’ drape suits and with their cool, sophisticated, rockin’ style. The guys, exhausted from their drive from Adelaide, went right on stage and thrilled the dancers with their classic Rock n Roll & Rockabilly.
The Dj for the night was ‘Midnight Rocker’ from the UK playing some always needed neo-rockabilly such as The Jets, The Deltas, Restless, which got the guys up and boppin' English Style, which is a singles dance (I could have almost been back in England).
Dj ‘Midnight Rocker’ also known as Dave Gartland brought along a fantastic original collection of handmade aluminium guitars which were lined up like the Queens Guards as soon as you walked into the venue. Ready to play for anyone who was game, the Ali Kat guitars and a double bass were used in the Lincolns big jam session at the end of the night which went on for nearly an extra hour! Two girls even hopped up and had a go Sonyta Trahar from Sonyta & The Incinerators & Liv Parker who also has her own Rockabilly band....it was a fantastic night to be proud of!
Roll on the next one on Aug 27th (see Events column).

The Lucky 13 Garage is at 8 Cochrans Rd Moorabbin.
Sounds like the last night at Lucky 13 was a great night. Missed it, and can't make this coming Saturday's gig either, but Christine's dances are invariably great for the quality of bands she gets and for the standard of the venues. Seems to attract a few younger rockabilly enthusiasts too.
Good to see Lucky 13 is the new home for her gigs. Has proven a great addition to the venues available for rock & roll / rockabilly events in Melbourne.
Look forward to hearing how Saturday's gig goes.........
Dance like nobody's watching. Love like you've never been hurt

Thanks Steve, it IS a great night. Lucky 13 is, I think, a temporary location until Robert gets his liquor licence....
I AM trying to attract the younger crowd because if we don't this scene won't survive. Hence the multitude of other entertainment we provide as well as the bands to make the night a bit more fun.
The other aim is to give new bands a go AND have the lesser seen interstate bands to show people what else is out there....so we usually have a combination of one local band and one interstate band. The only trouble is this proves to be very expensive and we don't charge much on the door, so if people like what we are doing they need to come and support us.
This Saturday will be a big one and with lots of special stuff happening I'm expecting a larger than usual crowd. See you at the next one, take care
